Key facts

Market data: CoinGecko, Oct 24, 2026. Scores reviewed Oct 23, 2026.
Assessment
Canton Coin has a fully mechanical fee link: all network fees are burned, about $0.64B over the trailing year on ~0.9M transactions a day, and a US ETF and a Nasdaq-listed treasury company now hold it. The claim that burns exceed issuance is a design target, not yet a fact: minting ran ahead of burning over the year (6.2B vs 4.8B CC), and roughly 80% of the value burned returned as rewards to the app providers and validators whose activity produced it, so organic demand is hard to separate from reward-seeking traffic. Control sits with 13 institutional super validators who admit each other, captured most early issuance and can change the curve by a two-thirds vote. Spot liquidity is thin for the size (~$17M/day median against $4.1B).
How value reaches holders
Burn-mint equilibrium: users pay USD-denominated fees (synchronizer traffic, transfer fees, CNS and preapprovals) by burning CC, and super validators, validators and app providers mint new CC under a curve capped at 10B CC/yr until Jul 2029, then 5B/yr to 2034 and 2.5B/yr after. Over the trailing year Lighthouse round data show 4.80B CC burned (~$0.64B) against 6.19B minted (2.26B to super validators, 1.44B to validators, 2.49B to app providers), so supply still grew; monthly burn exceeded mint only in Feb 2026 (1.01x) and has run 0.80x to 0.99x since. Holders receive no direct flow: value accrues only if USD-priced burns outgrow issuance, and about 80% of the burned value came back as rewards to the parties generating the activity

Tier outlook
Two-way ↗medium likelihood
- Monthly burn/mint ratio: a sustained run above 1.0 would make the equilibrium claim real (0.93x average since Feb 2026)
- The share of burns from parties that do not earn app or validator rewards
- The Grayscale Canton ETF S-1 (filed Jun 5, 2026) going effective, and 21Shares ETF assets

Research report
Oct 23, 2026 · source confidence 65%Canton Coin is the native token of the Global Synchronizer, the shared infrastructure of the Canton Network built by Digital Asset for regulated finance. Its design is a burn-mint equilibrium: users pay fees priced in US dollars by burning CC, while infrastructure operators, validators and application providers mint new CC under a declining curve. There was no token sale, and the burn is substantial: about 4.8 billion CC, worth roughly $640 million, over the past year on close to a million transactions a day. Issuance still ran ahead, at about 6.2 billion CC, so supply grew by roughly 3.5 to 6.5% over the year, and most of the burned value returned as rewards to the applications and validators whose activity generated it. Burns topped minting in only one month, February 2026. Control is concentrated: 13 super validators, admitted by vote of the existing set, run the network and can change fees and the minting curve by a two-thirds vote, and they received most of the early issuance. Institutional exposure is growing through a small US-listed 21Shares fund, a pending Grayscale filing and a Nasdaq-listed company holding about 9% of supply, while spot trading is thin relative to a market value near $4 billion.
